Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 24, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Strek. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you as to how we look after your personal data when you visit our application and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

2. Data We Collect

We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you which we have grouped together as follows:

  • Identity Data includes first name, last name, username or similar identifier.
  • Contact Data includes email address and telephone numbers.
  • Media Data includes photos and videos you grant us access to upload to the platform.
  • Location Data includes your geographic location when you grant us permission, used to show you localized content.
  • Transaction Data includes the orders you place or receive — the products and amounts, delivery or pickup, the name, phone number and address given for delivery, the payment and delivery status, and any dispute — and the delivery addresses you save. For a card you save we keep its type, bank, first six and last four digits, expiry date, and a token from our payment provider that lets us charge it when you ask; the full card number and security code stay with the payment provider. The shop you order from sees the name, phone number and address given for delivery, so that it can deliver. Sellers also give the bank or mobile money account their payouts are sent to: its type, number and account name.
  • Messages include what you send in chats — text, photos and the products you share — with who sent each and when, kept so they can be delivered and shown on your devices. Messages are encrypted when stored on our servers, and Strek staff do not read your chats. If someone reports a chat, the messages they send with the report are reviewed by our safety team. This is not end-to-end encryption: Strek holds the key, which is how your messages reach your devices and show in notifications, and we may have to share messages if the law requires it. In a chat set to disappear, messages are deleted from our servers once their time is up.
  • Activity Data includes what you do with posts, products and people on Strek: likes and other reactions, comments, reposts, saves, follows, product reviews and ratings, the reports you make and the people you block, and, when you share a post outside Strek, which app you shared it to. It also includes which showcase videos you have watched, so the app can show you which shops have posted something new for you. Comments, reposts, reviews and who you follow can be seen by other people in the app, within your Privacy & Security settings. Saves, reports, blocks and which videos you have watched are not shown to other people; reports go to Strek staff to review. Like and share counts are shown to everyone, but not who shared a post outside Strek.
  • Device Data includes your phone's notification token, kept with your account so we can send you notifications. A phone belongs to one account at a time, and its token is removed when you sign out or delete your account.
  • Usage Data includes the days you use the app, on iOS or Android, and which version of it; two things you do in it: adding a product to your bag (which product, and how many), and the app asking you to rate it on the App Store or Google Play (and at which moment); and, on this website, the pages you visit, the site that sent you there, your country and type of device, and taps on the App Store and Play Store buttons. It is counted with a random identifier rather than cookies and kept without your IP address, and while you are signed in to the app it is linked to your account. None of it is collected from the app while Data Collection or Analytics Sharing is off in Privacy & Security, and the website does not count browsers that ask not to be tracked.
  • Technical Data includes our servers' log of the requests made to them — the time, the action asked for, and the IP address it came from — used to keep Strek secure and to fix problems. The contents of requests, such as passwords and one-time codes, are not written to these logs.

3. How We Use Your Data

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:

  • Where we need to perform the contract we are about to enter into or have entered into with you.
  • Where it is necessary for our legitimate interests (or those of a third party) and your interests and fundamental rights do not override those interests.
  • Where we need to comply with a legal obligation.

4. Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed to run Strek:

  • Other people on Strek see what you share there: your profile, posts, comments, reviews and who you follow, within your Privacy & Security settings. A shop you order from sees the name, phone number and address given for delivery.
  • Payment providers take payments and pay sellers.
  • Apple and Google, when you sign in with them or subscribe in the app.
  • Service providers that run parts of Strek for us: hosting, storage and backups; sending notifications, emails and text messages; and maps, which receive your location while you use them.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it or to protect people from harm, as described under Child Safety below.

Payment and service providers handle your data under their agreements with us and their own privacy policies. Contact us to ask which ones we use.

5. Where Your Data Is Kept

We, and the providers who run parts of Strek for us, may store and handle your data in several countries, including the United States and countries in Europe. This means your data may be stored and processed outside the country where you live, in places whose data protection laws may differ from those of your own country. Wherever it is kept, we protect it as described in this policy and share it only with providers who need it to run Strek, under agreements that require them to protect it.

6. How Long We Keep Your Data

  • While your account is open, we keep your data so that Strek works for you.
  • When you delete your account, it closes straight away, and you can restore it by signing back in within 30 days. After that it can no longer be restored, and within 90 days we delete your profile, posts, photos and videos, comments, likes, follows, saved addresses and cards, and the rest of the data about you described above. See Account Deletion.
  • What we keep after that: orders and payment records, without your name, phone number or address, for the shop's records and as the law requires; reports made by or about you, for safety; and the messages you sent, which stay in the other person's chat from “Deleted user”.
  • For legal reasons: if you bought, sold or were reported on Strek, or were banned, we keep your name, email address and phone number for up to six years, only for legal claims, fraud and safety, and then delete them. A banned account's email address and phone number cannot be used to sign up again.
  • Some anonymous user data can be kept for security, legal and business needs for as long as necessary.
  • Which showcase videos you have watched is kept for 30 days and then deleted.
  • Security records about sign-ins and blocked requests are deleted after 90 days at most. Server logs are kept for a short time set by our hosting providers.
  • Backups, kept only to recover from a disaster, can hold copies of deleted data for longer. We do not use them for anything else.

7. Data Security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. We limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know.

8. Your Legal Rights

Under certain circumstances, you have rights under data protection laws in relation to your personal data, including the right to request erasure of your personal data. Please see our Account Deletion instructions if you wish to exercise this right.

9. Child Safety & Abuse Prevention

Strek is committed to providing a safe environment for everyone. We have a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content/behavior that exploits, harms, or endangers children.

Users can immediately report any safety or child exploitation concerns in-app using the profile/shop reporting features, or by emailing our safety team directly at support@strek.dev. All reports are immediately investigated, and any confirmed violations will be reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant law enforcement agencies.
